Art of Victorian Hair Work and Demonstration @ Old Courthouse Museum
Dec 8 @ 11:30 am – 12:30 pm

Join The History Center’s Curator of Education, Jessica Sawinski Couch, as she explores the history, symbolism, and techniques of this sentimental and curious art. The program concludes with a demonstration of table-worked hair.

Program is free with Museum admission.

Learn about history using the real thing! Classes feature touchable artifacts, a tour of related museum exhibits, crafts and projects, special presenters, at-home activities, off-site trips, and more. Recommended for ages 8-11.

Discover what your neighbors collect during the 11th annual COLLECTION of COLLECTORS.

Collectors share their interesting & unique passion. You’ll learn something new during this fun, informal, & FREE program.

Includes FREE admission to the Old Courthouse Museum. Museum hours are 9:00am-3:00pm.

If you have 2 of something, it’s a collection! And it doesn’t have to be old!

Junior Girl Scout Program: Mystery in the Museum @ Old Courthouse Museum

The Junior Girl Scouts are called to the scene of a robbery at the Old Courthouse Museum. Complete activities and put the clues together to discovery who the culprit is!

-Dust for Fingerprints
-Analyze Handwriting
-Learn Chromatography
-Collect Trace Evidence

Who: Junior Girl Scouts (grades 4 & 5)

Where: Old Courthouse Museum, 320 S. 5th Avenue, West Bend 53095

Fee: $9.00/Girl Scout or adult. Cash, check, or credit cards. Due to limited space, only registered Junior Girl Scouts may participate.

REGISTRATION and PAYMENT REQUIRED by February 24, 2017. Each Girl Scout must be registered by a parent or guardian. Troop leaders may attend for no charge but, please, no additional parents. Badges not included.

Show ‘n’ Tell with Mike Paul @ Old Courthouse Museum

Dig out your family treasures, dust them off, and bring them to Show ‘n’ Tell with Mike Paul. Mike Paul is a professional appraiser and auctioneer of Paul Auction Company, Inc. in Kewaskum.

Mike will share his incredible knowledge of antiques with the audience as he examines each piece.

Even if you don’t have anything to share, this evening is fun & informative.

$5.00/non-member. Free/WCHS Member. Please, only ONE ITEM per person.

My Great Uncle Carl Quickert, Washington County Historian @ Old Courthouse Museum
Apr 5 @ 11:30 am – 12:30 pm

Carl Quickert (1869-1951) was a well known and personable local historian, accomplished poet, and newspaper man. He was intensely private, too. His 1923 book, The Story of Washington County, remains a source of early county history.

Quickert’s great-nephew, John Brauer, will share the life story of his great-uncle as well as insights into Quickert’s writing style and sources of inspiration.

Program is free with admission to the Old Courthouse Museum.
