Children entering 1st through 5th grades this fall are invited to learn about life on a farm. Activities include washing clothes, grinding corn, milking a cow, and making a button spinner.

$6/child before August 1.
$7/ after August 1.
Free for children of WCHS members at Family Level or Higher.

Registration required by August 11. Sponsored in part by the West Bend Noon Kiwanis.

Restorative Yoga at the Old Courthouse: Presented by The Soul Source @ Old Courthouse Museum

Enjoy a morning of restorative yoga practice with Jen Martin from The Soul Source and meditation to kirtan music by Kaita and Fred Bliffert on the grounds of the Old Courthouse. Both beginners and experts are welcome to work at your own pace and abilities. Bring your own mat.  If weather is poor we will move inside.  No experience is needed.   Individuals and families with interested young adults are welcome and encouraged to attend and meditate and move with music.

$5 per person donation to the History Center of Washington County suggested.  Entrance to the Old Courthouse Museum is free for participants.  All funds raised will benefit the History Center.

Built in 1856, it was here that the Sisters of St. Agnes managed one of the first schools in Washington County, educating children of all denominations.

Within the fieldstone rectory of Father Caper Rehrl, the exhibit “From Mound Builders to Church Builders” highlights the triumph of survival over inexperience on the unsettled Wisconsin frontier.

Traveling Exhibit: Fur, Feathers, and Fidelity @ Old Courthouse Museum

The History Center of Washington County is please to present a second traveling exhibit from the Wisconsin Veterans Museum.  This traveling photo exhibit  features photos and information about the military mascots that are a large source of pride and morale for our troops.

Exhibit provided courtesy of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum.  Funded in part by the Wisconsin Humanities Council with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Free with regular admission.

Royal Natzke of the Jackson Historical Society will share stories collected for his book, “Pioneer Church Records Speak: Immanuel Lutheran Church Jackson, Wisconsin, 1847-1974.”

Organized in 1847, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kirchayn was among the first ten Lutheran Churches to organize in Wisconsin. It also was part of the second group of congregations to join the then one-year-old Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in 1848. Its story is important to Wisconsin as well as church history.

Copies of his book will be available for purchase.
