What is an Endowment Fund?
Even before Wisconsin became a state, people saw the need to preserved the
history of Wisconsin. They did this because they believed that
common human experience deserved to be preserved for future
generations. Today, a very special group of people will help to
preserve Washington County's mementos, artifacts, and experiences for the
future. The Washington County Historical Society needs to ensure
that the funds are available to fund the daily operations, preserve our
artifacts, present our programs, and create exciting exhibit for the
public. Currently we receive approximately half of our operating
funds from Washington County. For the remainder, we rely on gifts,
donations, and grants. Since we never know how much revenue we will
have from one year to the next, our endowment fund ensures that funds are
there from year to year. The Endowment Fund provides income for the
Society, and only the interests from the investment of these funds can be
used. The principle of the fund would be kept intact to continue to
grow. As it grows, more revenue would be available to present more
programs and better served the community for the present and the future.

Donation Levels
Diamond Level:
$100,000 and over; Gold Level:
$50,000 to $99,000; Silver Level: $10,000 to $49,000; Bronze
Level: $1,000 to $9,999; Friend of the Museum: $500 to $999; Supporter
of the Museum: $100 to $499.

$1,000 or more will be recognized in the "Donor Room of
Honor".***
***It may be possible to double the power of your gift to the Endowment
Fund! Your company may had a matching gift program, where they will
match the gift you give. These programs allow your company to
support the same charitable institutions that their employees
support. Information on matching gift programs is available from
your company's personnel department. The Washington County
Historical Society verifies your gift and the form is returned to your
company who then send the matching gift to the Society. Please check
with your company to see if you can double the power of your gift!***
