The Washington County Historical
Society holds over 16,500 images, with more added every week. This is the
largest collection of photographs related to Washington County anywhere.
Images range in date from the early settlement of the County in the mid
1800’s to present day.
Our collections
include family photos, portraits, business, farm, landscape and house photos
from all of Washington County. We may have photographs of your historic
building or distant relatives!
In keeping with
the Society’s mission to further education on the history of Washington
County, we are happy to offer a photographic reproduction service of images
in our collections.
Several local business are already using
enlargements from the Society’s collections to enhance the hometown feel of
their office. Historic images of your historic building, past business
with similar functions and general scenes of the area are all a great way to
bring a community feel to your public space and provide a talking point for
visitors.
Reproductions of
photographs from our collections also make a great addition to a wall of
family photos in your home or as a supplement to your scrapbook. Just place
your order and in a few days you will have a treasured memory suitable for
framing.
Reproductions are
created on a professional quality photo printer. We do both 8.5 x 11 and 11
x 17 inch sizes in house and have a turn around time of about a week. Larger
sizes are professionally printed by a local company who also offers custom
framing and matting choices.
Copies of the
photographs are arranged in patron accessible binders by geographic area for
easy viewing and are also searchable by keywords. Patrons are welcome to
browse the photos during the Research Center’s open hours Wednesday-Friday
11am-5pm and Saturday 9am-1pm.
We encourage all of the public to stop by
our Research Center and check out our resources. Spend a few minutes
browsing though our photos and you too will be entranced by views of the
past.
