Visit the Research Center!

The Research Center is fully prepared to assist genealogists, family historians, and local history researchers in their search for vital records, photographs, documents, and other information related to their subject in Washington County.  We have genealogies and family histories, 3,000 surname files available as well as over 230,000 individual surname records.  Found in resource files are church records, cemetery records, probate files, obituaries, business files, etc.  All of these records are updated or added to on a daily basis.  Newspapers on micro -film as well as filmed Catholic church records and census/naturalization can be readily accessed.  Over 16,000 photograph reproductions also are readily accessed.

GET STARTED WITH OUR FREE INDEX!

In an effort to help you start your research, we will send you an index of a surname of your choice from our Death and Burial Index. This will show the name, year of birth and death, burial location and the type of file in our records, of all persons with that surname. Just mail or e-mail the Research Department your request and we do the rest! Please specify if you prefer to receive the index by e-mail attachment as an Excel document, or by US Postal mail. Please remember to include your mailing address if you request US Postal mail.
